District 27 Lawmaker Receives Committee Assignments

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma House Speaker-elect Kris Steele has appointed state Rep. Josh Cockroft as a member of three committees and an appropriations subcommittee for the 2011 and 2012 legislative sessions.
Cockroft said he is especially pleased to serve on the House Government Modernization Committee.
“The modernization committee will be examining way to streamline state government to maintain the quality of service we provide our citizens but in a way that costs less,” Cockroft, R-McLoud, said. “I think this will be the committee that examines some of the most critical legislation that lawmakers will propose to help address the revenue shortfall and create a leaner state government.”
Cockroft will also serve on the House Public Safety Committee, the House Transportation Committee and the House Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee on Public Health & Social Services.
“I am looking forward to a challenging session,” Cockroft said. “I am committed to the creation of a balanced budget and a smaller, more efficient state system. I think that we will be able to accomplish both this year.”
